Paris on a rainy evening

Not a great start to the journey. Eurostar was running but the general strike will mean it will be difficult to get out of Paris so my trip to Nimes looks dicey.

The hostel is great. Restaurant, bar, communal space and very clean.

Al though the journey made a bad start I was so happy that a dear friend came to meet me at the Gare du Nord. It was a complete surprise. We had a lovely walk through the Quartier Ste Paul where he lives and then dinner at a very sweet bistro … then a stroll back through the rainy streets. This is a very beautiful part of Paris . Old cobbled streets, fascinating little shops of all kinds; vintage, fashion, bookshops, bars and much more. It was quiet and pretty.

This morning I’m off to the Musee d’Orsay to get in some culture. Then I’ll try and sort out my onward journey
