Well having left Paris behind I’m looking at the highlights of my visit and my impressions. Firstly the people I met … friendly and witty. The buildings beautiful and well kept. The vibe was so exciting, on trend and easy. I think the 4eme is wonderful. So many independent shops of all types; wonderful chocolatiers, great bars, libraires, boutiques, jewellers. Everything presented with an eye on style. Walking the streets there is a pleasure.
The great flea markets …. Some great clothes at great prices. Bought a wool sweater for €4 and a couple of brooches. C bought a jumper… he dresses from thrift stores.
I enjoyed visiting the Shoah Memorial exhibition on The impact of the war on French Jews. Beautifully curated and presented it was a sombre and moving visit that reminded me that we can be so inhumane but that there is still compassion. The wall of remembrance and the photographs of thousands of children who were deported to concentration camps was unbearable.
The demonstration in support of Iranian women was vociferous and exuberant while the strikers created a party atmosphere.
Of course a highlight was being with C again. Attentive, tender and thoughtful he made my stay such a pleasure. He gives me a lot of strength and courage …. He has so much himself as I’m discovering. I’ll miss him until we meet again. Maybe I’ll post a little about how I’m feeling about this trip a little later. Will it help me understand my weaknesses and build new strengths? Time will tell if it will change me. I need more resilience and courage
