Murano
Taking a trip to the islands. It’s a beautiful day and while it’s breezy the sun is warm. It will be nice to have some time away from the city. Murano is very pretty and remarkably quiet. We had our glass demonstration which was interesting. Murano , contrary to expectations, was really lovely with its canals and some pretty houses. An industrial site where glass making has been carried out in safety well away from the city for centuries it certainly had a charm of its own. Some rather beautiful art glass once you get away from rather kitch animal figures. A pleasant place to spend an hour or two.

Burano

A very attractive village on the island of Burano. Famed for its multicoloured houses and lace making. Originally a fishing village it took to painting its houses in these vivid colours in the 1960s. In the brilliant sunshine they looked really beautiful. Pit was a pleasant visit and fairly quiet so it didn’t seem to full of tourists. Venice as a whole is a beautiful place and this visit across the lagoon made my stay very special. While here I did a little sketching … a poor attempt to explore the shapes and colours of the village.
