I’m now wandering in Stockholm Old City getting my bearings. It’s very attractive with its cobbled streets and painted buildings. It is very touristy but that’s to be expected. Tomorrow I’ll go in search of something less so. I’ve been recommended Sodermalm as hipster Stockholm so I’ll give it a try. One thing intrigues me; the street names and signs all have what appear to be constellations names beneath them. I’ll investigate. In the meantime I’m enjoying being a flaneur and taking in sights and people. I’ve visited the Cathedral which is splendid. A fifteenth century brick interior with some fabulous Baroque church furnishings which temper the austerity of the brick and create an interesting aesthetic contrast.

Views of Old Town

After a long morning it’s now lunchtime. I had to have traditional meatballs with pickled cucumber, mashed potatoes and lingonberries… delicious and sustaining.
