An unexpected day in Oslo

Open air free film screening… Liquorice Pizza

After my disappointment at missing Bergen … I really wanted to visit it! I spent the evening at a free film show in a square in Oslo. It’s part of their fringe festival. I really enjoyed it as it was in English with Norwegian subtitles. Liquorice Pizza was a charming film; funny and touching and although it received excellent critical reviews and Oscar nominations it did badly at the box office. It was quirky and really enjoyable. There’s another free film tonight so I think I’ll go. This morning I’m off on a boat trip on a sailing ship around Oslo Fjord.

A trip down Oslo Fjord

Oslo fjord is really beautiful; a calm sea, pretty islands, waterside homes. On a sunny day with a wonderful cloudscape it was quite an experience sailing down between islands with mountains in the background. Great views of the city and some better architecture.

The Cathedral

On the way to the harbour I visited the Cathedral. Another austere Lutheran building from the seventeenth century.
