A dull start to the day but perhaps this weather is more appropriate to the season than the heat I’ve been experiencing so far. Krka is very lovely and at 9.30 in the morning very quiet. A small group of people on the bus … all very friendly. Talking to them made me realise how insular the British can be. One couple for example; he was Polish and she was French. They lived in Rotterdam but he had spent five years in Northern Ireland… and they were very typical of people I’ve met here.

Trogir .. a UNESCO world heritage town.
A charming small walled town on the Dalmatian coast. Quiet today. Founded by the Greeks and as usual here later colonised by Rome, Venice and the Ottomans. It had a maze of back streets and a wonderful Romanesque/ Gothic cathedral and tower and various spectacular Venetian gothic style architecture. It was really worth the visit.

I rounded off a delightful day with a limoncello spritz on the Riva in Split … Zagreb for the night tomorrow then on to Budapest, Ljubljana, Trieste and i make my way home through Italy and France. Home by May 1st i think.
