A pleasant train journey through Puglia to Rome and a hostel I stayed in a couple if years ago; it’s still great. Expensive (I could stay a week in Albania fir the same price) but it’s Rome and worth it. Of course it’s busy here, it’s a Jubilee year and a new pope too so lots of religious services and processions.
After checking in I had a few hours to stroll the city and renew my acquaintance with the city. I took a long walk through the Forum which I didn’t do last time I was here. It’s got far more to offer than I thought and it was a beautiful day. I love the pine trees in the cityscape here and the green of the Palatine hill. It is a rather captivating city.

Next stop Florence to catch up with Laura and then the 6.20 am to Paris from Milan on the 14th. I’m hoping to make it home from Milan in a day. Maybe! Wish me luck.
