A La recherche de temps perdue

Well I’m lying in my top bunk ready to board my train to Paris later this morning and leave a chilly and dank Geneva. This hostel is terrible. It’s clean and the room is good but it’s so anonymous… like a big hotel with absolutely no atmosphere. 5 floors of anodyne corridors, an empty games room and you have to pay a deposit to play their games! It seems full of business people; No life, no vibe, no energy with generic hotel decor with lots of orange. It is characterless. And Geneva is horrifically expensive. 15 francs for breakfast!

However I awoke this morning feeling strangely optimistic about the future … head filled with plans for my return to Italy. It’s been a wonderful few weeks and Italy has given me new hope. I have a few hours in Paris before I catch the Eurostar to London. I don’t want to leave but I know in my heart this is a brief interlude … Italy is calling me. I’m already looking at taking proper intensive Italian courses. In Paris I shall wander the streets a little, recalling such happy times spent there just a few weeks ago exploring new places. Hopefully strikes will have calmed down a little. So despite not a little sadness … keep visiting my blog as I post my plans! … en avant avec courage!

Safe journey home. The sun is shining in Kent, the bluebells are emerging and the aroma of wild garlic is filling the woods. By the way, your front lawn needs cutting! Looking forward to seeing you soon. X
