A quiet day in Nara

After a strenous day yesterday I wandered the town today and took it gently. I’ve made a little list of things I’ve noticed:

Zebra crossings. You wait ages and they bleep in a chirruping sound which is aggravating.

2. The dustcarts sing a little song. The lotto stalls are unmanned but advertise through speakers all the Time

3. it’s like living in a cartoon. Little box like vans and girls dressed like Hello Kitty. All schoolgirls have little fluffy animals attached to their backpacks.

4. The ubiquity of vending machines … they even appeared out of nowhere on my walk yesterday.

5. Bowing; all the time!

6. The pervasive quality of gaming arcades … and capsule vending machines … whatever they are?

7. Corner shops everywhere, … mostly 7/11 stores

8. Amazingly cash is widely used and many places don’t take cards and fewer accept phone payment. Always carry cash!

9. Women only carriages on some trains … confusing at times
