Heidelberg… charming and delightful

I spent today wandering around the city. Some little courtyards and alleys to see. The people in the hostel are really lovely and we’ve had some amusing, intense, and interesting conversations comparing cultural differences and similarities; Swiss, German, Norwegian and US among others. It’s a good place to stay. A good common space and because it’s a small hostel everyone mucks in and shares food.

I had thought that tomorrow I would take a river trip but in the end decided to go to the nearby town of Speyer on the train. It’s recommended for its cathedral.

I’m sitting having a cigarette and listening to church bells. What could be better? I’ve enjoyed coffee and a raspberry torte and now it’s time to find dinner. My evening ended playing cards with a group of students from US, Switzerland and US. Good fun. They’re off now to do shots in a bar. I’m going to bed … my shot days are over.

The hostel sounds great – you should have gone for some shots though with the kids! 😁
