Stibbert Museum Florence

After completing an excellent week of classes this afternoon I took a long walk to the hills outside Florence and the Stibbert Museum. Beautiful views of the city and a lovely garden. The museum was created by a wealthy English man and donated to the city of Florence at his death. This is the fruit of a crazy obsession. A huge collection put together by a magpie it contains fabulous collections of armour from Europe, Islamic countries and the best collection of Japanese armour I have seen. The place is extraordinary. 36000 objects from ceramics to glass, paintings to lacquer works. A lovely guide took is around. Recommended.
