This was an excellent exhibition exploring Samurai culture from the 12th century to its legacy today. including armour, ceramics, prints and textiles it displayed some gorgeous lacquer work and beautiful clothes. The Edo period was well represented and the period leading from the proscription of Samurai in the 1860s, its development in the 1930s and resurgence through anime, manga, film and fashion today. Really enjoyable. My love of Japanese art was nourished. It took me back to my trip to Japan and the exquisite pieces on display at the Tokugawa Museum in Nagoya and National Museum in Tokyo. Well worth a visit.
