A arrived at 7 last night unprepared for the hills and dark and steep passageways which took me to the hostel.Luxembourg is a city built on steep gorges with rivers running through them. The hostel is clean and fairly luxurious with a good bar and restaurant. It lies next gothis viaduct.
Today I took a walk through the historic centre which had some delights including lovely views.
There are a few pleasant monuments and I had coffee in a very traditional bar. The modern town has little to recommend it but the lower town has great charm and has many parks. I’ve enjoyed wandering peacefully. I visited a historic mustard water mill.
All in all a rewarding day of tranquility. Tomorrow I am taking a day trip to visit Trier and it’s cathedral.
